Yes. After firing, your ring is 99.9% fine silver — purer than sterling. Not plated, not silver-colored resin. The clay is made of real silver particles held together by a plant-based binder that burns away completely.

No. The kit includes a torch head that screws onto a standard butane gas canister, the kind you find in grocery, camping or hardware stores, and the ceramic firing platform you fire on. You keep the tip of the blue flame about 3/4 inch (2 cm) from the ring, and once the silver glows an even orange-red you hold it there for 7 minutes. That is the whole firing step.

That's who we built this for. The guide walks you through every step, the clay is forgiving while wet, and small imperfections are what make a handmade ring look handmade. Most first rings come out better than people expect.

Plan 90 minutes to two hours at the table, plus drying time: 20 to 25 minutes on the mandrel, then up to an hour off it, less with a hair dryer. Most people start after dinner and are wearing their ring the same evening.
